The Power of US
BLOGUST ROCKED. Today, 31 bloggers- or as we call them in the trade “social media influencers”- achieved something amazing. By writing, commenting, tweeting, and working really hard, we helped save 10,000 childrens’ lives. 10,000 children will receive four life-saving vaccines to help protect them against measles, pneumonia, diarrhea and polio.
The “Blogust” bloggers earned 10,000 blog comments from their readers – and thanks to the United Nations Foundation, that means 10,000 children get the vaccines they need. And that’s just one inspiring example of making change through digital media.
Starting Sept. 6, mom blogger (and artist) Caroline Urdaneta will be helping a fantastic group of The Mission List bloggers to work together and use their voices — blogging for 10 days to raise money for Water.org in their 10 Day Challenge Campaign.
The main gist is, use your social media voice and tell people that each $25 donation to Water.org brings a person water FOR LIFE. There’s still time for you to join this incredible group, if you’d like. Just visit Caroline’s blog, Salsa Pie.
Social media moms (and dads!) write about everything. Eighty-eight percent of the 3.9 million blogs written by mothers focus on more than parenting and family updates. It is only when we women influencers use our tremendous voices to ask for a better world that things will change. This I know.
Does he know this?
Governor Chris Christie, who represents my home state of New Jersey, thinks listening to women is beneath him. He said this ”I think there’s a fallacy about having to cater to a particular sector of the electorate,” Christie said on “CBS This Morning” Tuesday. “I think it’s condescending to women to say we have to have a different message for women than we have with men.”
I don’t think so. Let’s show him we have an agenda for a better world, a more sustainable world. I’m willing to listen to all sides. Are you?
