Bill O’Reilly and Kansas Republicans
Lisa Stone writes in the Huffington Post about the Kansas AG race, incumbent Kline appearing on Bill O’Reilly’s show, and the possibility O’Reilly broke the law by disclosing Kansans’ abortion records.
Lisa, I must disagree with you on one point in your otherwise dead-on post. You write:
“From a campaign horserace perspective, I am quite surprised that in such a close election, with the Kansas GOP undergoing a divisive conflict between fiscal and social conservatives, Mr. Kline chose to appear on a show by Mr. O’Reilly — commentator famous for his socially conservative views, especially his belief that abortion should be illegal.”
I’d imagine Bill O’Reilly is the General Patton to the Kansas GOP Base. In a tight race, there’s nothing like appealing to your base late in the race. After all, the base ALWAYS votes.
As I sit here the night before Election Day, there is literally not a non election ad on the air. I can’t TIVO them because they are strangely compelling. Like a drone of negativity and stirring music. They are extremely un-base oriented, which is why they are bland and they all mush together.
VOTEvotevote
My sister says she’s not voting tomorrow because she can’t get it together. I don’t buy that sanctimonious, it’s your country kind of stuff usually, but honestly. If not now, when? Blue State, Red State, vote.
I’ve been blogging on BlogHer- there’s a good, bipartisan discussion going on.
